Leaders at the Bell with Alejandro Cardona, CEO at Creando Riqueza, March 05, 2026
Alejandro Cardona, CEO of Creando Riqueza, joins FEMACRO from the New York Stock Exchange floor to discuss his journey from Colombia to becoming a leading voice in financial education for the U.S. Hispanic community. Cardona reflects on his early fascination with wealth creation, which began in Cali, Colombia, where he first visited the Bolsa de Valores de Occidente in the mid-2000s after studying economics. Despite initial setbacks and trial-and-error experiences trading options, he found his breakthrough during the 2007–2008 financial crisis when a small position grew from a few thousand dollars to fifty thousand overnight. This pivotal moment convinced him to pursue markets full-time, eventually leading him to study at Tulane University and relocate permanently to Miami.
During the conversation, recorded as markets experienced a sharp intraday decline, Cardona emphasizes the democratizing power of capital markets and the cultural shift among Hispanic investors. He recalls how fifteen years ago fewer than five percent of accounts at major brokerages belonged to Hispanics, whereas today they represent a substantial majority of new accounts. Cardona attributes this transformation to accessible education and a mindset shift within the community. He draws parallels between successful trading and athletic training, underscoring that consistent profitability requires disciplined study and practice rather than shortcuts or automated tools. His message to Latinas and the broader Hispanic audience centers on equal opportunity: in electronic markets, success depends solely on skill and preparation, not background or language.
